I had to redirect about 170 URLs from a WordPress hosted blog to another. It was out of the question to do it on a one by one basis.
After a long try and error, I finally found what I needed:

RewriteEngine On
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^www.olddomain.com
RewriteRule (.*) http://www.newdomain.com/$1 [R=301,L]
# END WordPress
It works like a charm. All URLs from your old domain will be redirected to the new one, keeping links working and, most important, telling Google that your blog has permanently changed its address.
Don’t forget that 301 means permanent, like forever. Google may, and will penalize your domain if you ever change it back to what it was.
